Happy first day of Fall! Yesterday I showed how to create your best simple Fall vignettes and today I’m sharing my casual Fall mantle. As I’ve mentioned in the past, this is my favorite spot to decorate in our home. It’s one of the first focal points you see and it sets the tone for the rest of my seasonal decor. Because it’s a very neutral space, color pallete wise, my options are just about endless!

My husband gave me these longhorns for my birthday. I’m still so smitten and in love (with Brad and the horns!). And they have given me new ideas on how to change up my usual symmetrical and harvest heavy Fall decorations.

Blue Is New

This is the first year I’ve introduced blue into my Fall decor, and I’m loving it! Why have I not done this before? It all started with my Fall Wreath and just carried on from there. This color brings a casual worn in blue jeans feel.

These glass demijohn’s have been here since Spring. I filled them with Fall picks and added two pumpkins and a gourd. The green felt pumpkin is from Target’s dollar bin and the white pumpkin is from the Dollar Tree. I love mixing high and low items.

You don’t have to spend a small fortune on your decor! Have fun mixing it up with what you already have in your stash and what you might come across when you’re out and about.

Below is one of my favorite pictures. It just exudes casual Fall gloriousness. The pheasant feather and wooden bead garland keep the casual vibe going. I kept is simple this year (for me anyway!) with a white pumpkin from the Dollar Tree and this beautiful blue glass pumpkin from At Home. Some Fall floral picks help to balance the colors and add height to this side of the mantle.

Final Touches

Our plugin fireplace insert has been a lifesaver for my need for ambiance! When we moved in almost 6 years ago, we had a few real fires but our winds just drove the smell and ash right back into the house. This guy is a great alternative and even “crackles”!

So, I stand back, assess and make small tweaks like turning a pumpkin or fluffing a Fall pick. And there you have it! My casual Fall mantle is complete.
