How to Create a Guest Room Welcome Basket

Guests can come anytime of the year, not just for the holidays. And, it’s important to make their stay at your home as comfortable as possible! In this post I will show you how to create a Guest Room Welcome Basket that is easy and simple to put together.

Have you ever found yourself at someone’s home only to realize you forgot something?

It can be awkward to ask your host for something…or…start rummaging politely poke around their place.

I put some thought into what would turn my frown upside down when traveling or staying somewhere that is not my own home. It is guaranteed I will have a headache, an upset stomach and need a sip & snack at some point!

This is a great way to not only think ahead, but, to truly prepare a space that shows your guests you care.

Pick your Basket

OK, your “basket” can be anything. It could be a bed tray or even a cute galvanized bucket. You can use just about anything that holds, well, anything.

Get creative, think of the current time of year (pretty little planter in the spring? sand bucket in the summer?). This time around I decided on a soft fabric basket with leather handles. It fits in with my overall decor. Plus, we had a foot and a half of snow outside and thought this would encourage the Hygee in the Guest Room.

Fill your Basket

This part is fun! And, you know me…I always have a list ready to go! So, I head over to Target and cruise their travel item aisle. Here is where I pick up the obvious items that I’ve noted on my list. Toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, etc. I spend the extra bucks and get the nicer brands. Wouldn’t you love it if someone did that for you?

Elevate your Basket

Alright folks, this is where your Basket goes from, “oh thanks” to “hey, you don’t mind if I take everything, do you?”. In fact, I do insist that our guests take anything from the basket if that makes them happy!

Add a super soft blanket, rolled up and tucked in the bottom. It can be used as an extra bed layer or a wrap. A current magazine that represents your locale or lifestyle is a nice quiet reprieve after a day of traveling and catching up. There’s just something about turning actual pages…

Be sure to include your WiFi information. This easy print out is adorable and you can utilize a 5×7 frame you already have on hand.

Taking into account the type(s) of guest you are having, incorporate drinks and snacks that will appeal to them. This could be crackers, chocolates, shooters (in an adult only basket) or juice. Water, both still and carbonated, are necessary for anyone!

For my Basket in this post, I included make-up wipes, hand sanitizer, gum and a muslin sachet I filled with some dried lavender from a previous project. Of course it wouldn’t be complete without my handmade Peppermint Lip Balm and lotion bar (how-to post coming soon!).

This is a simple, quick and affordable way to make your Guests feel extra special. They will love it!

Until next time,
